Alec Baldwin reached a settlement with the family of Halyna Hutchins, who was shot and killed on the set of Rust last October, according to a report.
Matthew Hutchins said that the case against Baldwin, the production company, the film's assistant director, and its armorer was dismissed because of their "reckless conduct and cost".
Matthew Hutchins, who will become the executive producer of the movie, said he has no interest in blaming Baldwin or the producers of the movie.
Baldwin's attorney did not respond to an inquiry from Forbes, although he previously told Forbes that "any claim that Alec was reckless is completely false."
Baldwin and others on set committed 15 major breeches of industry safety protocols, including by not using a replica gun whenever possible, pointing a gun at somebody without consultation from an armorer, and taking prop weapons from anyone other than, according to attorney Brian Panish. The New Mexico Environment Department's Occupational Health and Safety Bureau fined Rust Movie productions $136,793 for not following firearm protocols that led to the fatal shooting. Baldwin thought the bullets were real. Authorities in New Mexico said this week that they are close to filing criminal charges against Baldwin, who claimed he was told the gun was cold when he received it.
