Fans of the service are trying to save the controller from being thrown away by connecting it to other systems. While the Stadia controller can be used with PC, Mac, and smartphones via a wired connection, a wireless connection viaBluetooth is currently restricted to the soon-to-be-dead Stadia platform. Fans continue to develop workarounds.

One way to do this is to use anAndroid device as a transmitter. LateStageTech showed how his app, Wiredless Pro, lets users connect wired controllers to an Android device and then send the signal to a PC. Benjaninja showed that this method can work with Stadia controllers. Benjaninja was able to restrict the number of games that could be played using this method due to the fact that the Stadia controller's triggering buttons weren't recognized. It's not ideal for people who want to avoid a wired connection to physically connect the Stadia controller to their device.

There are ways in which the Stadia controllers could be opened up.

The method is only available on PC and requires a little more work. Shah requires users to install Python 3 onto their PC and download version 1.2.0 of his software from GitHub in order to use it. Shah has a guide to download the ZIP file and run it. There is a Stadia icon in the PC System Tray that will allow you to type in a URL into a browser on your phone or computer. The method requires a wired connection from the controller to the device, however, all buttons seem to work in Shah's demonstration.

Some users of Stadia want to make it easier to connect to other people. The requests have been acknowledged and a possible update is being looked into. A wired connection is still a viable alternative to ensure the controllers don't become e-waste.
