Newt Gingrich Mercilessly Mocked For Hot Take On Herschel Walker

Newt Gingrich was blasted on social media for his bizarre defense of Herschel Walker, the former football star and Republican candidate for Senate.

Gingrich said that Walker was the most important Senate candidate because of his deep commitment to Christ. The supposed pro-life candidate paid for an abortion for a then-girlfriend despite his history of violence and domestic abuse.

The senior pastor at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church was ignored by Gingrich.

The comments were clipped.

Christian Walker, one of Walker's sons, called out his father.

When you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over 6 times in 6 months, you are not a family man.

Gingrich heaped praise on Walker, saying he was a "remarkable person". Gingrich brought up Walker's health as well.

Gingrich said that he had been through a difficult period.
