The US Navy's most advanced aircraft carrier, which was commissioned and then critiqued by former President Donald Trump, was deployed Tuesday to head to the Atlantic.

After years of delay and costly setbacks, the Navy's newest ship, the Gerald Ford, set off for its first deployment, entering the competitive arena of naval ships from countries like Russia and China.

The ship has a lot of new technologies, including weapons elevators that can move bombs and missiles up to the flight deck.

The world's largest aircraft carrier is one of the most advanced in the world.

It hasn't won over many people. The ship was criticized by the former president.

According to "Peril," a book by Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, Trump was often preoccupied with the carrier, ranting about the high cost and the placement of the flight command center on the flight deck.

According to the book, Trump said it didn't seem right.

Congress members have a problem with the ship. The ship was called a "$13 billion nuclear-powered floating barge" by Rep. Elaine Luria.

According to the Navy, Ford's deployment in the Atlantic Ocean will involve about 9000 personnel from nine countries, 20 ships, and 60 aircrafts.
