The Atlanta Braves secured their fifth consecutive NL East title with a victory over the Miami Marlins.

The Atlanta Braves were the second seed in the NL and got a bye in the first round.

At the beginning of June, the Braves were 10 1/2 games behind the Mets and lost four of five to New York in August. Atlanta needed a win or a Mets loss to win the division after sweeping the Mets.

The Braves celebration was delayed by the Marlins with a victory. The Braves are in control of their fate in front of a large crowd at loanDepot Park after the Mets defeated the Nationals 4-2 in the first game of a twin bill.

Kenley Jansen worked a perfect ninth to seal the victory.

In the fourth, Jake Odorizzi gave up a home run to Jesusnchez, but he did not give up a hit.

A.J. Minter saved Miami in the eighth. JonBerti stole his 41st base of the season after hitting a one-out double. After Bryan De La Cruz and the other two walked to load the bases, Nick Fortes popped out of the batter's box.

The Braves didn't take advantage of many chances at the plate to stretch their lead, but their pitchers did.

In the sixth and seventh, McHugh and Iglesias did not allow a point of view.

Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a two-out single in the top of the second to score the Braves' first run.

In the fifth, Atlanta took the lead on a two-out infield single by Contreras, which allowed d'Arnaud to score. The man had two hits and an insurance goal.

The pitcher allowed six hits, two runs, and five walks.

One year after winning their first World Series title in 20 years, the Braves are out of the playoffs without their best player.

Atlanta has won 100 times for the first time in a decade. The Braves finished in the top half of the table.
