The New York Yankees manager told reporters that Aroldis Chapman's performance in Tuesday's win over the Texas Rangers helped his chances of making the playoffs.
In the first game of the double-header, Chapman came on in the seventh. He didn't allow a hit and only struck out two people.
Following Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Orioles, Boone told reporters that he was concerned with Chapman's decline, which meant that he wouldn't have a chance in the playoffs.
The left-handed pitcher allowed two runs and one hit, walked three hitters and took the loss.
The seven-time All-Star entered Tuesday with a 4.58 earned run average, a 1.47 WHIP and 41 strikeouts in 35.1 appearances. Since May 17, he has not made a save.
In the previous season, Chapman had a 3.36 earned run average, a 1.31 WHIP, 97 strikeouts and 30 saves.
The Yankees probably won't have a choice when it comes to adding Chapman.

Marinaccio will not be in the American League Division Series, but he could return for the American League Championship Series if the Yankees make it to the World Series. They could be used for the ALCS.
