Arrested looters in Lee County were in US illegally, says sheriff: 'Not tolerating it'

The accused scavengers arrested earlier this week are some of whom are in the US illegally, so officials in Lee County are warning looters not to get away with it.

According to online jail records, four people were arrested on charges of breaking into a building during a state of emergency.

The Lee County Sheriff held a press conference Tuesday in which he talked about the spike in loot after the historic Hurricane Matthew.

Law and order is maintained in Lee County. In our great state of Florida, we have law and order. I'm proud to say that we have four cases of loot right now and they're behind bars. Residents are going to be safe.
