Russians are resorting to drastic measures to avoid being drafted to fight in Ukraine, a sign of desperation, as President Vladimir Putin's attempts to revive the flagging invasion pushes potential conscripts to flee or secure medical exemptions by breaking their own arms or legs.

Since the draft was announced in September, an estimated 400,000 Russians have fled to other countries, including the European Union and Turkey.

According to Russian media, the number of men wanting to freeze sperm spiked after Putin announced partial mobilize. Many of the patients that the clinicians in Moscow and Yekaterinburg claim to see are booking emergency appointments because they want to skip the exams and procedures that are required to make a deposit.
