The University of Paris-Saclay, J.F. Clauser and the University of Vienna won the physics prize.

Three researchers collaborated to create new experiments demonstrating and investigating quantumentanglement, a curious phenomenon in which two or more particles exist in an entangled state. If one of the particles takes an action that ripples through the entire entangled assemblage, the other particles will behave in a similar way. An essential part of quantum computing isanglement.

The work of Aspect, Clauser, and Zeilinger has opened doors to another world, and it has shaken the very foundation of how we interpret measurement. The trio has contributed a lot to quantum information science.
