The Cavs had high hopes for the 20-year-old when they picked him third in the NBA draft. In the second half of the 20th century, Mobley exceeded expectations.

In 69 games, the forward averaged 15 points, 8.3 rebound and 1.7 blocks per game. One of the NBA's better defenses was created by him. The team's defensive rating was the fifth highest in the NBA.

They looked like they could get a top-four seed before the All-Star break. It was due to the injuries to Allen and Mobley. The team lost two of their best players to season ending injuries.

The season was a success even though Cleveland lost two play-in tournaments.
