October is the start of the prize season. New faces from around the globe were added to the world's most elite roster of scientists, writers, economists and human rights leaders.

The medicine award will be announced on Monday, followed by physics, chemistry, and literature on Tuesday. The economics award and the peace prize will be announced in October.

The coveted prizes have more than one thing to know.

The Noble Prizes were created by someone.

The prizes in medicine, physics, chemistry, literature and peace were established by the will of a wealthy Swedish industrialist. In 1901, the first awards were given out.

Each prize is worth 10 million kronor and will be awarded on December 10.

The economics award was created by the central bank of Sweden.

The prize in economic sciences has been awarded more than 600 times.

Who knows who will win and who won't?

Judges can't discuss their deliberations for 50 years. We don't know how judges made their picks for 2022, and who was on their short list.

Sometimes word gets out about the winners even though the judges try not to. There is a chance of a peace prize and a literature prize being won.

Can anyone decide who will be a candidate?

There are thousands of people who are eligible to submit nominations.

The committee members, as well as professors, lawmakers, and previous winners, are included.

The nominations are kept secret for 50 years, but those who submit them sometimes make public their suggestions.

The other awards are given out in Sweden and Norway. That is how Alfred Noble wanted it.

Sweden and Norway were part of a union that was dissolved in 1905. There have been times when the relationship between the peace prize committee in Norway and the foundation in Sweden has been tense.

What do you think it takes to win a nobel?

It's one thing to be patient for one.

Scientists have to wait decades to have their work recognized by the judges, who want to make sure that any breakthrough will last.

The will states that the awards should be given to those who have made the greatest benefit to mankind. achievements made in the previous year are rewarded by the peace prize committee
