When there are good flight deals to the U.S. Virgin Islands, it is a good idea to take advantage of them.

Travelers from a few U.S. cities can now find round-trip flights to St Thomas.

Delta SkyMiles deals can be found from South Florida and Los Angeles.

The U.S. Virgin Islands were spared the worst of the storm but were still hit with heavy rains.

It is an amazing place to visit, and you don't need a passport to enjoy it. The Baths at Virgin Gorda was one of the highlights of my visit to the British Virgin Islands.

Scott's cheap flights was the first to point out the great deals to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Premium memberships start at $49 annually and include flag economy deals and premium economy and business class alert.

Whether you want to fly to St. Thomas, stay on the island, or go somewhere else, these deals are worth considering. If you want to book quickly, look closely to see what cities are involved.

It's a good way to get to a warm-weather destination this winter or get a head start on your spring vacation.

Sample flights

There are flights between the East Coast and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We kept an eye out for deals in the $300-$330 range that came in well below that mark.

You can travel from New York. There is a wide open availability starting in January. Delta will offer round-trip flights to St. Thomas with a starting price of $224 and a SkyMiles value of $183.

We found deals from the west coast. The lowest price for flights from Los Angeles to St. Thomas is $337.

If you're in the Miami area, be sure to check out the flights out of Miami International Airport (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

If you want to travel from Atlanta, you can find flights at a decent price, though availability at the notable price point was not widespread.

We found several routes and prices.

  • New York to St. Thomas for $224 on Delta.
  • New York to St. Thomas for 13,000 Delta SkyMiles.
  • Miami to St. Croix for $310 on American.
  • Los Angeles to St. Thomas for $337 on Delta.

There is a good amount of availability at the $224 price point. If you have a co branded credit card that gives you benefits, you should be able to find round-trip flights for less than that if you are loyal to either American or United.

There is a nonstop flight from JFK to St. Thomas in March.
