The Ikea Dirigera smart home hub is going to cost twice as much as the existing Trdfri gateway in Europe and a month later than promised.

There is a sales page for the Dirigera hub on the German Ikea site. The hub on Spanish and Norwegian Ikea websites were found by us. It is a new and better replacement for the TRDFRI gateway. In November, sales begin.

When we spoke to Ikea about the new hub, we knew it would cost more than the Trdfri gateway, which sells for 29 Rebecca Treman, business leader at Ikea, said that it's a little bit more expensive because it has more capabilities.

Ikea says that the Dirigera hub will be Matter- ready, so it's a good sign that Matter is close by. Matter is a new smart home interoperability standard that promises to make devices communicate with each other.

Any Ikea product connected to the hub should be controllable through any Matter-enabledecosystem. Many companies have committed to supporting Matter. Ikea hasn't said which products will be upgraded to support the new standard. The company has integrations with a lot of different companies.

The Dirigera hub is able to act as a Thread border router due to the fact that it has a number of radios on board. It has the same features as the Trdfri gateway, but is a bit smaller.

The new Home Smart app will arrive with the new hub.
