The Los Angeles Lakers are considering whether to trade Russell Westbrook.

According to The Athletic, the Lakers' brain trust of Rob Pelinka, Jeanie Buss and Kurt Rambis met ahead of training camp to discuss a trade that would send Westbrook and two future first-round picks to the Indiana Pacers.

Lakers executives Joey and Jesse Buss' opinions were also strongly considered.

The group decided not to make a move unless a consensus was reached. There were differing opinions on how to handle the situation with the Lakers opening the preseason with a new player.

According to a report, Jeanie Buss believed a combination of Ham's style and on-court plan could be the solution. In the past, Ham has preached accountability and expressed excitement about coaching Westbrook.

There is no guarantee that he will stay with the organization. Pelinka's current plan is to remain patient and see if there is a better fit for the man than there was under the man.

There is a risk in waiting. The Pacers won't sit around and hope the Lakers come back to the trade table; if an opportunity presents itself to move Turner and/or Hield, they will strike. Indiana is expected to start out hotter than expected.

Turner and Hield are better suited to play basketball next to superstars like James and Davis. Both James and Westbrook are at their best when they have the ball in their hands, and even though they don't shoot very well, they still do a good job. It makes no sense to take the ball out of James' hands and put it in the hands of someone else.

The front office's vision may be clouded by the Lakers' obsession with star power, as most outside observers have already come to the conclusion that this trio does not work on the floor.
