The Times reported that a person briefed on the criminal investigation of the flights identified the man as a former combat medic and counterintelligence officer. According to the newspaper, a migrant who helped lure others onto flights from Texas confirmed that it was her. According to CNN, a friend identified the person in the photo.

The man who helped Huerta said that she wanted to help others in the journey north, but didn't mention that Florida was involved.

The man said he was also lied to. I wouldn't have gotten involved if I knew.

Florida records show that Vertol Systems received $615,000 and $950,000 in September.
