Matt Taylor led Exeter City to second place in League Two last season

Matt Taylor is going to become the new manager of Rotherham United.

Taylor's tenure at St James Park is over according to a statement from the supporters' trust. The post has been removed.

The situation will be discussed at a press conference this afternoon.

The Trust's statement said that manager Matt Taylor has left.

We would like to give our sincere thanks to Matt for all he has done for the city.

Since Paul Warne left to take over at Derby County, the Millers have been searching for a new boss.

Taylor said in his press conference on Thursday that he had not been contacted by the Millers.

Taylor said he had been offered the job by the Championship side after his side's 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers.

The club lost to Northampton Town in the League Two play-off final after Taylor took over.

He was the division's manager of the year after guiding the Grecians to second place in League Two.

Despite having a much smaller budget than other clubs in the third tier, the Grecians have had a good start to the season, with four wins and four losses in their first 11 games.

"We've had a fantastic period of time with this football club, a fantastic group of players," he said.

I've been involved with this football club for a long time. I'm incredibly proud of what I've achieved, which is why it's going to be a difficult decision.

It's a level we all want to play at and we all want to work at.

Taylor departure 'not unexpected'- analysis

Brent Pilnick is a sports reporter for the British Broadcasting Corporation.

He has been linked to more and more roles as his reputation has grown after building a Grecians side that won promotion from League Two last season.

A manager who likes to play a passing style with three central defenders and attacking wing-backs and one who is able to improve players are just a few of the things that Rotherham have.

He has guided a squad brought together on a fraction of the budget of other sides in League One to a comfortable mid-table spot, a position Millers fans would accept in the tier above come the end of the season.
