Mason Crosby kicked a field goal as time expired in overtime to give the Packers a victory. There is a 0:22

The Green Bay Packers quarterback didn't think he would play well in the second half against the New England Pats.

When it comes to an ill-advised replay challenge, Matt LaFleur hopes he doesn't make the same mistake again.

They were able to get away with it in Sunday's overtime win against the Pats. If they hadn't faced a third-string quarterback in Bailey Zappe, they wouldn't have.

Rodgers thinks that this way of winning is unsustainable because it puts too much pressure on the defense. I need to play better and will play better.

Rodgers didn't shy away from the reality of what could have been, even though he is fortunate for his team to be 3-1 going into next Sunday's game against the New York Giants in London.

Rodgers said that they had to have this one because they couldn't be 2-2 and not playing well in all three phases. It doesn't take away from the joy of winning, but this was something we had to have.

The Packers trailed 14-7 at the half because of Rodgers.

  • He had the lowest passer rating in any half of the games he has played.

  • Rodgers said he missed the throw so badly that Jack Jones overran it when he threw the pick-six. It would have been great. If I threw the ball where I was supposed to, he would pick it up.

  • The wide receiver couldn't get the ball in his hands quickly enough before he fumbled. Rodgers didn't think the throw was a good one. He made a nice catch. It would have been better if he dropped it.

In the first half, Rodgers didn't have anything. He completed just one of five passes in the first two quarters. It was a long way to get the ball to Lazard, who had six catches for 116 yards for the first 100 yards by a Packers player this season. In the second half, Rodgers went 7-for-9 on such throws.

Rodgers usually doesn't have two bad halves. We started moving the football after I returned to the form I expected from myself.

Rodgers began to stretch the field. He averaged a season-high 9.0 air yards per attempt on Sunday after averaging a league low 5.2 air yards in the first three weeks.

The Packers were able to rush for 199 yards thanks to the efforts of Aaron Jones.

It was necessary to go to overtime.

The other was by LaFleur, who challenged a 40-yard touchdown catch by Doubs with 2 minutes, 2 seconds left in the game. LaFleur said his eye-in-the-sky coach told him that Doubs didn't catch the ball. The red flag was thrown by LaFleur anyways. Losing the challenge cost him a timeout that could have been used to win the game in overtime.

LaFleur said he wasn't too proud of that moment. It's a great lesson that you can't make emotional decisions in the heat of battle. You are aware of it. You have to live on the ground. He said "I don't think so" when he was in my ear. He told us not to challenge it. It was almost like throwing aHail Mary when I made an emotional decision. It could have come back and bitten us.

The Packers' defense was considered to be one of the best in the league before the season began. The defense struggled against the run and almost let a third-string quarterback beat it.

That doesn't mean the Packers can't keep winning.

Winning is sustainable according to Rodgers. If our defense isn't playing as well as they can, we'll have to play better against starting quarterbacks.
