The Phoenix Suns lost to a team from Australia in their preseason opener.

The Suns lost a preseason game against a non- NBA team for the first time since 2016 against Real Madrid. Luka Doncic scored 3 points for the Dallas Mavericks in their 142-137 overtime victory against the OKC.

The NBA's 3-point line is about 18 inches closer to the 36ers' line. They were led by Craig Randall, who played briefly at the University of Memphis, and Robert Franks, who played in the G League.

Randall connected on 13 of 21 shots, including 9 of 17 from outside the arc, to lead all scorers with 35 points, and Franks was 11-of-20 overall and 6-of 10 from 3-point range.

Monty Williams said that they didn't give them the respect they deserved. It's a good chance for us to learn.

The Suns had three players with at least 22 points. The man had 13 points.

Chris Paul had 12 helpers for the Suns.

The Suns' starters played 22 minutes, but Williams acknowledged they were all on a minutes restriction and ended up playing a bit longer than he wanted.

"I got them a little higher than I wanted to, they wanted to come back, but I wasn't going to let them come back," Williams said.

The Suns, who had the best record in the NBA last season at 64-18, cut into the 36ers' lead in the second half but couldn't overtake them as Randall scored 24 points after halftime.

The 36ers were able to get off to a good start thanks to their 3-point shooting. The team hit 10 of its first 17 3-pointers in the first half.

Williams said they didn't read the game well. I didn't think we knew that they would keep making shots after they made a few.

The Suns dominated with Bridges and Ayton. It wasn't to Phoenix's advantage to trade baskets. The Suns were 9-of-34 from outside the arcs, while the Adelaide continued to shoot 3-pointers.

The 36ers finished 7th in the NBL with a 10-18 record.

The final game of the U.S. tour will be against Josh Giddey.
