According to a report, it is over who has to foot the bill for her extravagant legal expenses, which surpassed $8 million before the start of ex- husband Johnny Depp's six-week defamation trial against her.

Heard has a homeowner's policy with Travelers and a general liability policy with New York Marine.

Pamela Johnson was seated behind the defense table in the gallery during the trial.

Travelers demanded that New York Marine pay half of the legal costs it had already spent defending Heard.

Travelers argued that Heard had a right to choose her own lawyers. Heard went through a number of high-profile attorneys before finally choosing Elaine Bredehoft for the trial.

The New York Marines disagreed and sent their own lawyers.

The actor won a defamation case against his ex-fiance.

The company said in a court filing that the two attorneys they hired were frozen out of the case and withdrew before the trial.

A Virginia jury awarded Johnny Depp $10.35 million after finding that he had been defamed by Heard. The $2 million judgement was won by Heard in her countersuit.

Heard was sued by the New York Marine to get out of paying the judgement. According to the company, the insurance policy doesn't cover willful acts.

New York Marine said that an insurer is not responsible for a loss caused by the willful act of an insured.

The jury found that Heard acted with malice when she defaming the actor, so New York Marine argued they should not have to pay for the judgement or the costs of her appeal.

Travelers told Heard that it wouldn't have to pay an award if she proved that she had lied.

Heard has hired a new lawyer to help with the insurance issue.

Requests for comment were not immediately responded to.

The total legal costs to defend herself in the defamation case could be as high as fifteen million dollars.

They are both appealing the verdict.
