There is a tool on FlyerTalk called MaxMyPoint. It's easy to check award availability at hotels. It's helpful for all three brands but it's especially helpful for Hyatt. I will talk about the ins and outs of MaxMyPoint in this guide. Clicking through a hotel and seeing there are no standard awards is one of the most annoying things you can do.
Hyatt has a straightforward policy for using points. You can use points to book a room if there is a standard room available. Some hotels have used this policy. They play games by adding minimum stay requirements and getting rid of standard rooms at peak times. MaxMyPoint shows the award availability for the entire year so you can see when you can use points.
There are a number of ways to find hotels on Max MyPoint. It's also where you can search for hotels. You can see the Hyatt hotel award availability from low to high as you can see what hotels are playing games with standard room availability. Even if I don't book anything at this moment in time, it's still fun to poke around.
Click on the percentage if you have a specific hotel in mind. The entire calendar of award availability will be shown in another tab. The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay is one of my favorites. They seem to play games with award availability. Look at their calendar and you will see this. There are only two weekends in the next 13 months where there is award availability. The low season in San Diego is around Christmas time. There are many months where there is no availability.
At the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile, the situation is the same. There is only one day a year where standard room availability is available. That's crazy. Some hotels have no award availability at all. This is an example of it. The lack of award availability is due to the fact that this is a popular hotel.
There are a lot of Hyatt hotels. Hawaii has the most hotels that play with award availability, and almost all of the hotels that play with award availability are in the US. There are a number of hotels that play games. The Hyatt Regency Chantilly will not be included. It is going to be deflagged. The Destination Hotel properties are subject to capacity controls.
I probably didn't notice other people.
I think it's best for Hyatt hotels, but it could be useful in the future when Marriott goes fully dynamic.
There is an example of a good use of MaxMyPoint for a hotel It's easy to see when there is award space because there is only a small amount of it available next year. There is so much demand that points availability is hard to come by.
Minimum stay requirements are checked by MaxMyPoint.
It doesn't. This is the worst thing about this site. If you want to use points, you might have to book 3 nights over the weekend. This site doesn't check for this requirement
Email alert can be set with MaxMyPoint. If you want to see availability for the full stay or specific nights of your stay, you can click the bell next to the hotel you are interested in. Enter your desired email and budget.
MaxMyPoint is one of the best tools. It can be useful for some properties, but not for others. I will check it next time I redeem a hotel.
