125 fans and two police officers were trampled to death during a soccer match in East Java.

There were reports of fights between fans of the two teams after the game ended.

Police used tear gas to control the fights and caused panic among supporters.

People ran to an exit gate to escape the tear gas. 34 people were trampled to death and some suffocated.

Many died on the way to the hospitals to be treated for injuries.

The Indonesian top league has suspended games for a week after the match, and an investigation has been launched.
