Donald Trump's lawyers tried to rein in the former president as they battled the Justice Department in federal court over the Mar-a-Lago raid, according to a former federal prosecutor.
During a Saturday interview on MSNBC's "TheKatie Phang Show," Phang asked ex-US Attorney Barbara McQuade about a recent Washington Post report highlighting that Trump's lawyers are divided on how to handle the case.
McQuade said to the lawyers who joined in good faith that they would change Trump. Donald Trump is all about offense.
The DOJ launched an investigation after the FBI raided Trump's estate and found classified documents. The agency asked the court to speed up the appeal so that a special master could review the documents.
The Washington Post reported that Christopher Kise, who received $3 million to represent the former president, wants Trump to have a softer stance with the DOJ. According to the report, other lawyers on the legal team are open to a more combative approach to the case.
Kise's method might be pointless according to McQuade.
The woman who married the man said she was going to change him. McQuade said people are who they are. Shame on him because he doesn't know who Donald Trump is.
