Tarzan isn't a popular character in the culture landscape. The most recent version of the character Warner Bros. has on offer, The Legend of Tarzan, didn't have the audiences clamoring for more. Since we are doing movies for basically anything, it is time to grab a vine and see if luck will come back to haunt us.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is now in charge of the screen. A new film that is said to be a "total reinvention" of the character and property is the first thing on the docket. They might take him to space. There is no creative team yet, but that will change soon. It feels like one they would work really hard to make, because Sony often does its damnedest to get certain movies into production and in theaters.

Tarzan has been adapted for movies, TV, and even audio dramas. Elmo Lincoln was the adult version of the ape man in Tarzan of the apes. After Lincoln portrayed the character in two sequels, Gene Pollar and Frank Merrill would play the roles. Johnny Weissmuller is the most popular live action Tarzan. Tarzan was played by Weissmuller for a dozen films and is still being played today.

Will they find a composer who can outclass Phil Collins or will they try to get Collins back to do this? Is Disney working on a Tarzan remake like they did with Hercules, Little Mermaid and other 90s films that made it famous?
