The first ever holiday special from the studio will be called "Wolfe by Night". The special was directed and scored by Michael Giacchino and was intended to officially take the MCU into the world of horror monsters in the supernatural. That old school, original Universal monsters -esque black and white horror of the 1930s and 40s is not just any horror.
The Doctor Strange and Moon Knight films are geared towards the horror of the last few years. The main goal of Giacchino was to evoke the old retro horror that audiences will not be used to. Giacchino said it was a giant love letter to all of the movies he watched as a kid. The composer said that he was a fan of monster movies because of their stories about feeling different and being afraid of the shadows. We have only seen a small glimpse of Jack's werewolf form.
Kevin Feige explained that the special allows for Giacchino to explore "entirely new characters and completely new sides of the MCU." It was risky to introduce their characters in this way, but Giacchino thinks it's a good way to introduce some diversity to the series. Is Feige included? He is excited about bringing in a world that will be important to the MCU.
The movie will premiere on Disney+.
