The Full Self Driving tech that is currently in the testing phase was revealed at the event. Despite a few regulatory issues and incidents that raised questions about its safety, the number of people testing out the product has gone up.

It doesn't seem too far off that the package will exit the alpha phase. In an interview this year, Musk said that the system will most likely be out by the end of 2022. By the end of the year, there are plans for a global roll out.

By the end of the year, I think it will be possible for a global roll out of the FSDBeta. We need regulatory approval in a lot of countries.

The team claims to have improved the pace of development with the expansion of the training infrastructure. In one year, the company trained over 75,000 neural network models and only one model is tested every eight minutes.

According to the infrastructure details, the company has a cache of over 14,000 GPUs. Over half a million videos flow through the system each day, and so far over one billion frames have been used to train the self-driving system. The training dataset now has over five million clips.

Tesla shares FSD progress

An advanced dataset labeling system has been used byTesla. It is said to have reduced 5 million hours of manual labeling.

In order to bring the labeling time down from an average of 533 hours per clip to less than 6 minutes, the team has moved to an approach that is all about 3D spatial data.

Tesla FSD image recognition

In cases where the camera produces a confusing image, the software uses supplementary frames to reconstruct the scene. You can watch the official video stream for more information about the upgrade.

With all the infrastructure upgrades happening behind the scenes and fresh feature additions, it's not clear if the price of FSD will be hiked prior to a wider roll out. It is currently ridiculously cheap, assuming that it will happen.
