Quinn Ewers eying return for Oklahoma game (0:26)

The quarterback of the Texas Longhorns expects to ramp up practice next week in order to play against the Oklahoma Sooners. There is a time and a place.

According to sources, Texas quarterback Ewers may return for next week's game against Oklahoma after missing the last two games with a shoulder injury.

Ewers has dressed for the Longhorns' past two games but is not expected to play against West Virginia on Saturday, sources said, as the quarterback continues to follow the original four- to six-week timetable that emerged after he was injured in the first quarter against Alabama on Sept. Sources say that Ewers has been limited in practice.

A return against the Sooners would be four weeks after Ewers was injured, according to sources.

There is a significant injury where the sternum meets the clavicle that Ewers has been trying to rehabilitate for a long time. The injury limited Ewers' ability to breathe and swallow, but he is expected to return on the early end of the initial timetable.

The game was decided by a field goal in the last minute.

Ewers was the top quarterback recruit in the class of 2022, but he reclassified and transferred to Ohio State before the start of the 2020 season.

Hudson Card is expected to start his third game in a row for the Longhorns. In last week's 37-34 loss at Texas Tech, Card was 20 for 30 for 257 yards, 2 touchdown and 1 interception.

Texas and West Virginia are both looking to get their first Big 12 wins. In overtime, West Virginia lost to Kansas.
