Antonio Colak doubled his and Rangers' tally
Antonio Colak tops the Premiership scoring charts with eight goals after his Tynecastle double

Rangers moved to the top of the league after beating Hearts.

An Antonio Colak double rewarded the visitors' electric opening, before Cammy Devlin's lunge on Rabbi Matondo earned a first half red card.

Rangers were able to coast to a victory thanks to the goals of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.

Rangers hold a one point lead over Celtic, who play Motherwell later on Saturday.

The 100% league record at Tynecastle was destroyed by Hearts, who are now six points behind Rangers.

  • Reaction & as it happened

Stephen Humphrys, who is on-loan from Wigan, was brought in to bolster the attack minded line-up.

Rangers' speed and incision at the other end was too much for Hearts. Within 40 minutes, the Ibrox side scored two goals and a man was in the middle of the action.

The hopes of a comeback were ended by the silly dismissal of Devlin, who rushed in to plant his studs on Matondo's ankle as the Rangers winger shielded the ball from Alex Cochrane. This was sheer stupidity from the man.

Colak continues to justify his position as Rangers' first choice. In the box, the Croat had four touches and two shots. He has 11 goals in 14 games and both ended in the back of the nets.

Colak barely had to jump to meet Kent's whipped cross and divert a head in off the post for the opening goal.

Scott Arfield missed a golden opportunity, guiding wide from 10 yards. Matondo darted in from the right touchline and passed to Colak who beat Craig Gordon from a tight angle.

Arfield's goal was ruled out for a questionable foul by Matondo on Gordon in the first half.

It was a damage limitation exercise for the team. The two sides made a double change at the break. Fans of the club will hope the withdrawals of McKay and Kingsley were precautionary.

While Rangers' intensity dropped, they had plenty of chances to add to their lead, and Gordon was finally beaten a third time when Morelos blasted home.

The pick of the goals was scored by Kent, who curled into the bottom corner.

Rangers wide man cause havoc - analysis

Rangers delivered one of their best performances of the season at Tynecastle, as they were led by wingers Kent and Matondo.

Rangers were able to break at speed because they were able to stay high and wide. The first two goals were delivered by Kent and Matondo, with the second one coming from Colak.

After just one victory from their first three away trips, Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men responded in emphatic fashion.

They had done a lot wrong but still found themselves with a two-goal deficit.

They were able to get at Rangers in the early stages, but couldn't test Allan McGregor. Humphrys' attempt was smothered by the Rangers keeper.

With Craig Halkett still a huge absence, Neilson's backline was cruelly exposed and Devlin let his side down with the red card.

What they said

The red card has a big impact on the outcome. It was foolish to go in for the tackle. Since the beginning, Cammy has been outstanding. He plays on the edge and learns from it.

We were in the game and creating chances before that happened. Our last moment wasn't there today.

The first two goals made it easy for us. The game was won by us after the red card.

I'm really happy with the three points, four goals, and clean sheet. The performance of Colak was really good and it was positive that Morelos and Kent scored.

What's next?

Both sides are focused on Europe in the coming days. The first game of the season for Hearts will be at home against Fiorentina in theEuropa Conference on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Rangers will play a game of Britain against a team from the other side of the pond, then on Saturday they will play a game of the same type against a team from the other side of the country.
