A study suggests that people who have a four-day workweek use the fifth day to sleep.
Juliet Schor, an economist, said that employees who transitioned to a four-day week had seven hours and 58 minutes of sleep per night.
As part of a six-month trial, Schor surveyed 304 workers at 16 companies across three countries, including the US, UK, and Australia.
The people in the study who went to a four-day week had less sleep deprivation. The percentage of people who got less than seven hours of sleep a night has gone down.
The program has been beneficial for 70 companies in the UK, according to Insider.
Almost all of the companies that responded to the mid-point check-in survey said the experiment was working well, and almost all of them said they would probably keep the four-day schedule.
Business executives are starting to discuss the four-day workweek.
Adam Aron, CEO of the world's biggest theatrical chain AMC Theatres, asked if he should be out front urging a 4-day U.S. work week.
Aron thinks it's time for America to switch to a 4-day work week. It's good for AMC if weekends are 3 days long. What do you have to say?
