Since announcing his arrival on the auteur filmmaking scene with 2015's The Witch, Robert Eggers has let it be known that he intended to tackle an adaptation of Nosferatu. Today a killer cast was announced for that project.

After directing Bill's brother Alexander in The Northman, Eggers seems to be collecting Skarsgrds like they're Pokemon, who will play the undead Count Orlock. He is known for digging into folklore and culture and imbuing them with supernatural flair, and Nosferatu fits into that. Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire, and it will be directed and written by him.

Since he played Max Schreck in F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent classic, it makes sense that he would want to play him again. Though Skarsgrd is playing Orlock in the film, there are many other roles that he could play.
