Kevin Durant on Trade Request: Nets 'Understood I Was Upset...We Worked It Out'

After requesting a trade from the Brooklyn Nets in the off-season, it seemed like he wouldn't play for the team again.

The superstar gave some insight into why he decided to return while meeting with reporters Friday:

They understood that I was upset. Some of the things they disagree with. We worked it out from there after we talked about it for a while.

According to The Athletic and Stadium's Shams Charania, it's not clear what the problem is, though he did issue an ultimatum to the team owner to either pick him or Steve Nash.

Nash told reporters earlier this week that he and Durant have solved their problems.

He said that nothing has changed since they spoke. I have a relationship with Kevin. I love the man. Some families have problems. It's behind us after we had a moment. This is what happens. It's commonplace in the league.

The Nets had a 44-38 record last season and almost missed the playoffs. The Celtics swept them in the first round.

The team's struggles last season were caused by injuries to both Irving and KD. KD admitted earlier this week that he was upset that the team didn't put up a fight while he was out.

We lost in a row after I got hurt. We shouldn't be losing games regardless of who is on the floor. I was worried about how we were going to approach the game. I felt like we were held back by a lot of things. That is done by championship teams. Going into the playoffs, Stephen Curry was injured and was not able to play. The team won games. The team still fought and won the games.

The Nets are expected to be much better this season with the returns of Durant, Irving and Ben Simmons, who is slated to make his Brooklyn debut after not playing last season because of a need to focus on his mental health.

The Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, and Milwaukee Bucks are all expected to be in the running for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

It's important for the Nets to stay healthy. They will have a chance to make a deep playoff run if they can do that.
