The Dead Space franchise has been the subject of rumors for a while, with a remake or Dead Space 4 being thrown around. The horror series started in 2008 with the original game and only had two sequels before Visceral Games closed. Despite how bad the third game was, people still want the series to return to the style of the first two entries.

We were given a lot of announcements for upcoming titles to look forward to and finally put the rumors to rest. The original Dead Space will be re-made by developer Motive. We only got a brief glimpse of the remake, but there were many more details shared. Here is everything we know about the Dead Space remake.

The Dead Space remake will be released on January 27,23. Phillippe Ducharme, senior producer of Dead Space, made the announcement. We are happy to announce that we will be launching the game in January of next year. We can't wait to see how the remake will change the experience for this generation. We are just hoping that date will hold.

The platforms that the Dead Space remake will be coming to were listed by the game's publisher. The game will only be available on current- generation hardware, such as the PS 5, XBOX Series X/S, and PC.

Trailer

The footage we have for the Dead Space remake will be the same as the original. We get some industrial sounds, followed by a beautifully realized look at the broken and bloody hallways of the USG Ishimura, with the faint singing of Twinkle Little Star, and a shadow look at a necromorph. We end with a shot of our main character, who has a health bar on his back and is standing in front of a message that says "cut off their limbs"

Senior producer Phillippe Ducharme had a few quotes about how the game will be adapted. The Dead Space franchise made a huge impact on the survival horror genre when it was released, and I came to Motive as a fan first to specifically work on this game. The team at Motive is going to write a love letter to the franchise. Going back to the original was exciting for everyone on the team.

The game will have an improved story and characters. The remake may serve as a new jumping-off point for the series to continue with new sequels. According to the latest livestream, where Motive showed off a bit more of the game, there will be a speaking role for Isaac in the remake. The character that was silent in Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3 will be reprised by the man who voiced it. He announced his return on the Dead Space account.

The tone of the original was preserved by two rules. He will mostly only speak when spoken to and occasionally speak in a situation where it would feel weird if he remained silent.

Along with changes to the story, we were also told that there will be some changes to the mechanics. Ducharme said that they reached out to dedicated fans and invited them to provide feedback since the early stages of production to deliver the Dead Space game they want and for new players to enjoy as well.

The fact that they are listening to old fans and new players gives some hope that the original game will not be lost. The dismemberment system was shown off, now running in the Frostbite engine, and it works just like it did before, but now it's even more gruesome thanks to a new "peeling" process the developers have implemented Every shot will cause the enemy's flesh and skin to be torn off.

Dead Space was ahead of its time in giving you a break from the horror by including your inventory, map, and health. You wouldn't be able to pause the game if you wanted to switch weapons or heal. When doing that, you were always at risk.

The keys to a successful remake were outlined in a new post. While the team acknowledges how challenging remaking a classic can be, they state that, "It's about rebuilding the game from scratch and adding new content and modern enhancements into the mix."

What people loved about the original is not the only thing that people want to know more about. They aim to expand the lore presented in the first game to better fit the larger narrative the series would build to, as well as provide some characters more screen time and backstory. They created a side quest that will allow you to find out what happened to Nicole when the outbreak began.

The game will be made to be one continuous shot, with no screen or camera cuts, as long as you don't die. They will be fully explorable and able to return to previous locations at any time.

The zero-G controls are getting updated to give more freedom of movement and make you feel lighter.

Multiplayer

Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3 forced the player to join the game. We have to assume that Motive is aware of this landmine and will avoid it, since it is one of the main reasons why the third game was killed. We don't want competitive modes and we don't want co-op. If we can get a solid, isolating, and terrifying single-player experience like the first game, this game will do well.

DLC

Isaac in a big, mechanical room.

The Dead Space remake could stretch creativity a bit. The DLC that expands on the ending of the game could be a great way to make a new sequel. If we get our wish and there isn't a component, then anything else wouldn't make sense. We don't want to see DLC exclusive guns or suits in our single-player experience because Dead Space 3 poisoned the well by having too many microtransactions.

Thankfully, Motive went out of its way to confirm that this remake won't feature microtransactions.

Pre-order

Despite the release date being announced, pre-orders are not yet open due to the date being so far off, but we will update this post so you can figure out which version you want and where.
