West Brom women in a team huddle
West Brom have decided to switch to navy shorts for their women's home kit to avoid the impact of period anxiety

Women at West Bromwich are concerned about having to wear white while on their periods, so they are wearing navy shorts.

After discussions with their players, they will wear navy for the rest of the season.

Athletes worry about leaking on top of their physical symptoms if they wear white on their periods.

The issue was also raised by England's Beth Mead during Euro 2022.

The captain said it was great that the club supported the change.

It's important that we look smart in the kit.

We will be able to focus on our performance without worry or concern.

"Our job as staff is to find every percentage point we can to support our players to perform at their best," said Jenny Sugarman.

It's a sign of the continued integration of the women's team across the club.

The dress code for both men and women is the same for many sports, such as tennis and cricket.

The British tennis player said in June that she had to plan her period around the chance to wear white at Wimbledon.

During the summer's European Championships, sprinter Dina Asher-Smith called for more research into the effects of periods on performance after she pulled up with pains in her legs.
