Mac Jones told his teammates that he could play against the Packers despite an ankle injury.

Per sources, Mac Jones is in the facility and participating in game planning. The #Patriots QB has to told multiple teammates to not count him out of this weekend's game at Green Bay, and is still operating as if he has a chance. Practice is scheduled for around 12:35 today.

He left the field late in the fourth quarter of New England's loss to Baltimore. The hope was that he wouldn't have to have surgery after tests showed he had suffered a high ankle injury.

Jones said he was optimistic about his recovery.

He said he would take it day by day and get his treatment. See how I feel.

Jones is off to a poor start. He's completed 66 percent of his passes in three games, throwing for 856 yards, two touchdown and five turnovers.

The Alabama product was the best quarterback in his class after he was selected 15th in the draft. He was named to the Pro Bowl as an alternate in his first year as a starter.

He was the only first year quarterback to lead his team to a winning record and a playoff appearance.

Brian Hoyer has lost each of his last 11 starts. The fourth-round pick will become his backup.
