He has been playing with a bicep injury since April.

The full squad will be announced by Wane on Friday.

The World Cup hosts England will play their first game on October 15th.

Wane was already unable to name Alex Walmsley in his squad because of a foot injury that kept him out of the domestic run-in, and he will now be without two more players who have helped Saints to an unprecedented four consecutive Grand Final victories.

The positive piece of injury news for England comes from the inclusion of Farnworth.

Farnworth scored 10 tries in the first 12 weeks of the season for his Australian club side, but has not played since June due to a bicep injury.

The centre moved to Australia as a teenager after spending time as a school boy with Manchester United.

Watkins was part of the England team which finished runners-up to Australia in the Rugby League World Cup last year.

England will play France and Greece in the group stage of the World Cup.

They will play a warm-up game against the team that made it to the semi-finals in each of the last three World Cup's.
