You would be able to get your entree on your flight if you pre-ordered it.
New options on the menu will only be available to those who pre-order. This is basically a watered-down version of Singapore's famed "book the cook" service, which offers premium cabin flyers a range of additional entree options.
If you're a frequent flyer, you'll find new options that might be interesting, even if you don't find a lobster thermidor. Lighter options such as a charcuterie board and fruit and cheese plate are expected to return to the menu.
Adding wellness meals and bringing back the preorder-only menu are the latest improvements to American's onboard Catering. Hot meals were brought back to domestic first class on the carrier, and many of the food options have been better presented than they were before.
It is hoped that this investment will expand to other areas of the carrier's operations, including to the economy cabin and to the admirals clubs nationwide.
