Players showing solidarity

On Tuesday, the Iranian national team took the field in black jackets and covered up their logo or emblem in order to show their support for the protesters in their country.

Every single person is at risk in the protests and uprising in Iran, and nothing should be downplayed. 10,000 people have already been arrested, and seeing as how Amini died in police custody, it could mean a lot more. There is a chance that these players will be kicked off the team just weeks before the World Cup.

It kind of pales in comparison to what the Iranian squad is stepping out to do and risk in order to make a difference.

It will be interesting to see what Fox and other broadcasters do during the Cup. They can point out what is happening in Iran, but it will look awkward to not speak out about it. It's more awkward if they ignore it all.

Stay on top of the situation.
