Texas A&M has received a commitment from a 5-star defensive line prospect.

The defensive star's selection was reported by Tom VanHaaren.

The ninth overall player and the top-ranked defensive lineman in the 2023 class is a player by the name of Akis. He's ranked as the top prospect in Texas.

Cooper Petagna, a national recruiting analyst, provided a scouting report on the defensive lineman.

It's ideal size and growth potential adds additional weight to the frame. Capable of playing multiple roles in a four-man front. An athlete with a track and field background is a three sport athlete. He shows good foot and body strength off the line of scrimmage. The ability to bend the edge is shown. Good play strength at the point of attack is demonstrated by this player. There is a versatile defender that can beat you with speed and power. He plays better when he plays the run. Project him to move inside as a 4-3 interior lineman as he continues to grow and develop into his frame, but still has the athletic ability to maintain a presence on the edge.

If he continues to develop at the same rate throughout college, he has the potential to play in the NFL.

Even though he had offers from every major program in the country, including LSU and Notre Dame, he was expected to go to Texas A&M. He told Cleveland.com that he was a big fan of Texas A&M.

To say the least, it's crazy. It has always been a place that I like to be close to.
