Steve Nash doesn't care if Ben Simmons ever shoots a jump shot for the Brooklyn Nets because he brings a lot to the team.

Nash said that Simmons was unique after the second full practice of training camp. Ben is great because of that. I don't care if he shoots a jump shot for the Nets. He's welcome to, but he isn't what we need. He's an amazing basketball player because of hisVersatility, and he's a great complement to our team.

After missing all of last season while waiting for a trade out of Philadelphia and dealing with ongoing mental health issues, Simmons is trying to stay focused on a fresh start and not let his mind wander.

Simmons said he felt great after the practice.

Simmons is getting used to the up and down play. I'm feeling good. It's great to be here with these guys.

Nash and Simmons are excited that he will play with other Nets players.

"I think they'll have some sort of synergy out of the gate," Nash said. They are all really good basketball players, but hopefully it will evolve. They can find ways to improve their relationship. They fit well together, but it may take a while.

Three great basketball players are excited to play together and will make things happen immediately. Let's hope that there's a constant growth.

Simmons said they need more time to play their games.

Simmons said that he was playing with some great NBA players. It's just playing with them, figuring out where they want their shots, how they move, and where I need to be. Timing is what it is.

Simmons will be used in a center role when the opponent calls for it, according to the coach.

Nash said that they would play him at the "lone big" role. He's our point guard and our most important player.

It's a position that Simmons isn't shying away from as the Nets prepare to host the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

Simmons is looking forward to the event. Wherever the team needs me to play, that's where I'll play. I can play one to five. We have so many different talents on this team, you could put me anywhere to help get points, get stops, whatever it is. I like to play the 5.

Nash said the hope is that Curry will be able to play in the Nets' last preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 14. T.J. Warren will not be ready to start the season because he is still recovering from a foot injury that has kept him out for most of the past two seasons.

He's doing great and we're going to assess in November. He's getting better." This was going to happen. T.J. has been out for two years, so we don't want to take huge risks with him. It's a process that we want to be very confident in, so that we don't rush him.

Nash seems to be in good spirits after waiting since February for Simmons to be up and running again.

Nash thinks that Ben is an incredible player. He's always looking to get guys open. He is a good screener. He has a great vision. With his size and speed, he's able to push the ball in transition and also get into gaps, so a great fit for Kevin and Ky to make the game easier for them.
