European leaders reported the discovery of three separate leaks in two Baltic Sea pipes that were built to carry gas from Russia to Germany.
There are bubbles of methane gas on the Baltic Sea surface. The patch above the Nord Stream 2 breach was spotted by a tiny Earth-observing satellite. Two of the leaks are in the same area.

The Dove is a cubeat. Doves can resolve features as small as 10 feet (3 meters) on Earth's surface, which is why the company currently operates a fleet of 200 Doves.
According to some European leaders, the Dove may have seen evidence of sabotage. Researchers and government officials have said that it is very unlikely for two pipes to leak at the same time. Powerful explosions were recorded near the leak sites on Monday.
It's not clear who is responsible for the explosions and what they were intended to accomplish. The investigations are planned but can't begin until the repairs are made.
The situation between Russia and the West has been tense. The United States and other nations have imposed sanctions against Russia in response to the aggression.
Russia is a major supplier of natural gas to the European Union. The flow of natural gas from Russia to Europe was halted in August.
The new line had yet to enter commercial operations. The plan to use it to supply gas was scrapped by Germany days before Russia began what it calls a'special military operation' in Ukranian.
