Saints' Jameis Winston Plans to Play Week 4 After Missing Practice with Back Injury

On the Saints' injury report, he was listed for a back and ankle problem. Jay Glazer reported on September 18 that he was playing with broken bones.

The performance of the Pro Bowler has left something to be desired. He has thrown for over 800 yards.

Fans of the Saints saw a less prolific but more efficient Winston before he tore an anterior cruciate ligament. His passer rating was on the verge of being a career high, and he had 14 touchdown to three interception.

The 28-year-old is reverting to his old self. His 286 passing yards per game are his second best mark through eight seasons, but his decision-making and costly turnovers are hurting the offense.

At Football Outsiders, the Saints are ranked 26th in offensive efficiency.

Dennis Allen tried to shift the blame for the loss to Jameis Winston, but ruled out a quarterback change.

He told reporters that he did not want to go there. We all need to do better.

If there is a hiccup with his back and ankle injuries, he will stay under center.
