Thanks to advances in machine learning, we are able to make search experiences that reflect how we as people make sense of the world. New ways to help people gather and explore information can be unlocked with a deeper understanding of information in its many forms.
We are helping people navigate information in a more natural way. You can see a closer look.
You can use your camera to find the world around you. More than 8 billion questions are answered every month by people using it. The introduction of multisearch was a major milestone in how you can search for information. Multisearch allows you to take a picture and add text to it, similar to the way you might ask a question about something. Multisearch will be available in over 70 different languages in the next few months.
At the I/O, we showed how we are supercharging this capability with multi search near me, which will allow you to snap a picture or take a screenshot of a dish or an item, then find it nearby instantly. Whether you want to support your neighborhood shop or just need something right now, this new way of searching will help you find and connect with local businesses. It will be available in English in the US later this fall.
Language barriers are one of the most powerful aspects of visual understanding. We went beyond translation to translate pictures with lens. Every month, people use the internet to translate text in images across more than 100 languages.
Machine learning has made it possible to blend translated text into complex images that look and feel natural. We're able to do all this in 100 milliseconds, which is less than a second. GAN models are what help power the technology behind Magic Eraser on Pixel. The improved experience is going to launch later this year.
You can point your camera at a poster in another language and see translated text on the pictures underneath.
We are putting some of our most helpful tools directly at your fingertips. You will be able to shop your screenshots, translate text with your camera, hum to search, and many other things under the search bar.
As we redefine how people search for and interact with information, we are working to make it so you will be able to ask questions with less words, and we will still understand what you mean. It is possible to explore information in a way that makes sense to you, whether that is going deeper on a topic as it unfolds, or discovering new points of view.
Finding the results you are looking for is an important part of this. We are going to roll out an even faster way to find what you need. We can provide relevant content when you start to type in a question.
You don't know what to look for until you see it. New search experiences will help you explore topics that are important to you.
When you begin typing in the search box, we will give you topic options to help you answer your question. Do you want to go to Mexico? We will help you specify your question so you can find more relevant results.
Oaxaca appears to be a great place to visit with the kids. As you learn about a topic, like a new city, you may wonder what it will look like. By highlighting the most relevant and helpful information, we can make it easier to explore a subject. You can see visual stories and short videos from people who have visited, as well as tips on how to get there, as you plan your travels in cities.
With our knowledge of how people search, we will soon show you topics to help you find a new direction. You can change the topics when you want to zoom in and out. This can help you discover things that you didn't think of. Oaxacan beaches are one of Mexico's best kept secrets.
The way we display results is being changed to better reflect the way people look at things. No matter what format the information is in, you will see the most relevant content. You will see a new way to get inspired by related topics as you scroll. You might never have thought of visiting the historic sites in Oaxaca or finding live music there.
New ways to explore information will be available in the months to come.
We hope that you are excited to search outside the box and that we can continue to build the future of search together.
