The Library of Congress made a crystal flute for President James Madison and it hadn't been played in 200 years.

Lizzo went to the Library of Congress on Monday after learning about the special instrument that is housed at the library as part of the world's largest flute collection.
The museum's curators made sure the flute could be used without being damaged.
When the singer asked if she could play the crystal flute, the museum's curators made sure it could be transported in a protective container before lending it out, and it was secured by a team of professionals backstage.
Lizzo compared playing the flute to playing a wine glass and twerking while she made music with it while she was at the Library of Congress.
Lizzo said that she was the first and only person to ever play the President's 200 year old Crystal Flute.
Lizzo started playing the flute in the marching band at her junior high school over two decades ago. When her schedule allows, she practices for four hours a day. The name of her flute is after the character of Beyblade. At the Met Gala, she brought a gold flute.
Wood or ivory-made instruments that were common at the time held their pitch and tone better than glass flutes. The Library of Congress has more flutes than any other collector. Lizzo's flute has been in the museum for over 80 years.
