Michael Cohen says Trump's downfall will resemble Al Capone's: 'You're not going to get them on murder, extortion, or racketeering. You're gonna get them on tax evasion.'

Michael Cohen predicted that Al Capone would be taken down by tax fraud charges.

Cohen spoke on MSNBC's "Deadline White House" about the ongoing investigation into the Trump Organization.

You are not going to get him on murder, extortion, racketeering. Cohen said that they got them on tax evasion.

He said that the former president's business may have committed fraudulent acts and that much of this was available a long time ago.

Capone was convicted of tax evasion in 1931 and was not indicted for violent crimes.

Cohen commented on Trump's legal troubles and predicted that the former president would use a "playbook" to respond to them.

There will be a criminal prosecution by the IRS. Cohen believes there will be a criminal prosecution by the courts in the Southern District of New York now that Trump is no longer in charge.

"I believe that there will be other criminal investigations that will be forthcoming, but remember what Donald does, and again, this is all part of the playbook that I am responsible for creating," he said. "This is a delayed game."

Cohen said that the Trump Organization probe looked like an "open and shut case of fraud" and that Trump's denials were "nonsensical rantings of a crazy mind."

The representative at the post-presidential press office did not respond to the request.

The former president has been accused of inflating his net worth. She wants to prevent the Trumps from doing business in the city.

Trump only answered a question about his name during his deposition in New York.

Capone, a famed Chicago gang boss, was indicted for tax evasion in 1921, but not for violent crimes.

Tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and bank fraud were among the crimes Cohen pleaded guilty to. The New York Supreme Court disbarred him in February of 2019.

Cohen has become a critic of the president. The FBI's raid of Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence was one of the legal troubles he weighed in on.

Cohen said that he would be selling t-shirts depicting Trump behind bars to celebrate the fall of Mussolini.
