Phil Mickelson hopes LIV, PGA Tour can 'come together' (1:05)

Phil Lefty wants the PGA Tour to work with the Saudi-backed series for the benefit of the sport. Affirmative.

The LIV Golf circuit has signed many big names and sparked a lot of discussion, but it hasn't had a deal to broadcast its events on television.

According to a report Tuesday night, that may be about to change.

According to multiple sources, LIV Golf is close to a deal to buy air time on Fox Sports, which would allow it to have its events broadcasted on the network. The deal is still being worked out.

Three more events are on tap before the end of the year. The number of tournaments will increase to 14 in 3 years. It wasn't clear if the agreement with Fox Sports would start this year or next.

The tour's 54-hole, shotgun-start events have been streamed on both websites. Commissioner Greg Norman said earlier this month that LIV was talking to four media companies about a partnership.

A source told Golfweek that the deal with Fox Sports would see LIV buying air time on the network rather than getting a fee from Fox Sports. A source told Golfweek that Fox Sports rejected both a guaranteed time slot and a rights fee for the second year of the deal. The report states that LIV would be in charge of production and ad sales.

More than two dozen members of the PGA Tour have defected to LIV Golf in the last few months. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund gave financial support to the tour.
