As Hurricane Ian approaches the west coast of Florida, the Disney Company and Universal Studios are planning to close their theme parks for at least two days.
Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Magic Kingdom will be closing on Wednesday and Thursday. Disney and Universal parks are located in central Florida and the storm is expected to pass over them.
The campground at Fort Wilderness is one of the places Disney has moved guests to inside. Due to potential impacts on guest experiences, the company has canceled the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser voyages.
The company has said that it will not enforce cancelation policies for in- park experiences.
The water park will close on Wednesday and Thursday.
This is not the first time that Disney World has closed due to storms. The parks in Florida were temporarily closed in September due to the forecast path of Hurricane Dorian. When the path shifted, the park reopened.
The CityWalk will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday and is expected to reopen on Friday. The hotels are full and will continue to serve guests. There were no Halloween Horror Nights events on Wednesday and Thursday.
NBCUniversal is a part of the company.
