The next public hearing of the House select committee investigating the Capitol riot will be delayed because of a major storm.

The hearing was going to take place on Wednesday. The Committee Chairman and Vice Chair said in a statement that the event would be held at a later time.

Thompson and Cheney said that they were postponing tomorrow's proceedings due to Hurricane Ian.

We are praying for everyone in the storm's path to be safe. The postponed proceedings will be announced soon, they said.

After Hurricane Ian made its way to Cuba, the delay came.

Ian could become a Category 4 storm by Tuesday evening according to forecasters.

The next hearing will be the first of the year.

The facts and circumstances of the January 6, 2021, riot are being investigated by the committee. Legislators fled their chambers and temporarily stopped confirmation of Biden's victory over Trump in the 2020 election.

The hearing was supposed to show clips of Roger Stone talking about challenging the results of the election.

Less than two months before the election, the postponement was announced.

Cheney, who lost her GOP primary race to a Trump supporter, has vowed to keep Trump out of the White House. Some polls show that Trump is the favorite to win the Republican nomination for president in four years.

The committee must submit a final report to the president by the end of the year.
