Fort Lauderdale, Fla. is located in the state of Florida In their rebuttal to the defense case, prosecutors showed the jury swastikas Cruz drew on a gun magazine and his boots, as well as his online searches for child pornography and misogynistic comments.

The prosecution is trying to show that Cruz's murder of 17 people at the high school four years ago was caused by a personality disorder and not a Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder as the defense contends. The trial is to decide if Cruz will be sentenced to death or life in prison.

According to prosecutors, Cruz's use of racist and sexist language is a symptom of a personality disorder. Of Cruz's 12 jurors, five are women and seven are minorities. A unanimous vote is needed for Cruz to be sentenced to death.

Two swastikas were drawn on the magazine of the gun he used in the massacre, according to investigators. One of his boots had a Nazi symbol on it.

Detective Nick Masters, an online investigator, testified about Cruz's racist and sexist searches before the shooting. Prosecutors were only allowed to present a small portion of Cruz's searches and comments. There is no argument that Cruz targeted girls. Girls and racial minorities were his victims.

Cruz searched for information on Hitler's birthday, how to get a swastika tattoo, and how to purchase a Nazi flag. The Nazi party will rise again. He used a racial slur against black people. He said he punched his mother and called her a derogatory term. Women are less important than a dog according to him.

Cruz was shown searching for child pornography. He bragged about killing 12 cats and wrote that he was happy when animals die. It makes me feel good.

Cruz attorney Nawal Bashimam asked Masters about other searches Cruz made such as how to get a girlfriend, how to deal with loneliness, and how to find mental health treatment. He said he had seen some of them.

Cruz's attorneys tried to show how his late birth mother's alcohol abuse during pregnancy put Cruz onto a lifelong path of erratic, bizarre and often violent behavior that culminated in the shooting. They tried to show that Cruz's adoptive mother became overwhelmed after her husband's death. She passed away less than three months before the shooting.

That's right.

There were six girl victims, not six.
