We now know who will play Aang and the rest of theAvatar gang in the live-action adaptation of the movie.
On the side of the Fire Nation, we have a bounty hunter named June, a girl named Ty Lee, and a woman called Mai. The Earth Kingdom's ruler Bumi, the Northern Water Tribe's Princess Yue, and Danny Pudi will be seen.
George Takei plays a role in the show. James Sie will reprise his role as the Cabbage Merchant in the live-action series. There is a list of cast members on the website.
We don't have a trailer yet, but I can tell you that the streamer is trying to keep in touch with the show's roots. Albert Kim says that the show is about showcasing Asian and Indigenous characters as living, breathing people. There is a world that is very similar to the one we live in.
It is a relief to see some thought put into character casting, as fans have already been burned by The Last Airbender. I still have some doubts about the series itself. Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko decided to leave the series in 2020 because they couldn't control the direction of the series.
It has the potential to be good. In a letter to fans, DiMartino said that it might turn out to be a show that many of them would enjoy. Whatever version ends up on-screen, it won't be what we intended to make.
We won't be able to see the series until at least next year. Nickelodeon is currently working on an animated film centered around Aang and his friends, as well as partnering with Paramount on threeAvatar films, which will involve DiMartino and Konietzko.
