In Monday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard tore his left knee and will miss the rest of the season.

There was a noncontact injury in the final minutes of the Dallas game.

Through three games, Shepard leads the Giants with 154 receiving yards, despite missing most of the summer due to injury. He has played the most snaps of all the players.

Shepard was jogging near the right sideline on the last offensive play of the game. The players from both teams came over and offered encouragement.

The veteran receiver took a pay cut in order to stay with the Giants. This is the latest blow to a career that has deviated off track.

He has missed at least four games in each of the last four years. He's had a lot of injuries in the last few years. His knee is now.

Shepard was able to return from the injury in just over eight months. He played in the season opener against Tennessee after looking good at practice. He scored a touchdown in that game.

Shepard has over 4,000 yards and 22 touchdown catches.
