Amazon is promising to start our holiday shopping early this year with a two-day savings event.

The sale will start at 12 a.m. On Tuesday, October 11th, it ends at midnight. Wednesday, Oct. 12 It's open to everyone who's an Amazon Prime member.

A regular membership costs $139 per year, while a student membership costs 69 per year, and you can sign up for a 30-day free trial. You can choose to join a monthly membership, which costs $12 per month for regular members and $7.49 per month for students.

Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card

5% back on travel, 3% back on dining, 3% back at drugstores and an unlimited 1.5% cash back on everything else are earned.

If you sign up, you'll get an additional 1.5% cash back on everything you buy, on up to $20,000 spent in the first year.

There is an annual fee.

If you want to earn cash back or Ultimate rewards points, the Chase Freedom unlimited is a good choice. You will get 1.5% cash back on general purchases with no limit. 1.5 points per dollar is what it would take to earn an Ultimate rewards-earning card. There is no yearly fee with the card.

Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card

It is possible to earn 10 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, 5 miles per dollar on flights booked through Capital One Travel and 2 miles per dollar on all other purchases.

You can earn 75,000 bonus miles if you spend $4,000 in the first three months.

There is an annual fee.

Capital One Venture Rewards Card

2 miles per dollar spent on all purchases is a solid return for any Amazon purchase with a much lower annual fee than the Capital One VentureX.

American Express® Gold Card

You can earn 4 points per dollar at restaurants, 4 points per dollar at U.S. supermarkets and 3 points per dollar on flights booked directly with airlines or through Amex Travel.

Membership rewards points can be earned if you spend $4,000 in the first six months of your account opening. You can check the Card Match tool to see if you are targeted for a higher offer.

The annual fee is $250.

The Amex Gold Card has generous purchase protection in case your items are stolen, accidentally damaged or lost, so you should use it.

You will get protection for up to 90 days per covered purchase and up to $50,000 for all incidents in a year, as well as other shopping benefits. The card has a $250 annual fee, but it can be used to get up to $120 in dining credits and up to $120 in annual Uber Cash. For certain benefits, you must enroll.

Bottom line

Purchase Amazon gift cards from select U.S. supermarkets with the Amex Gold,earning 4 points per dollar on up to $25,000 a year, then 1 point per dollar, or from the Ink Business Cash Credit Card,earning 5% cash back or 5 points. If you choose this route, you will lose credit card purchase protection.

If you use the right card, you will be able to maximize the return on your purchases if you grab any Prime Early Access deals.
